This is not a story about heroics and glory. What she finds inside is not what she expected it is not a list of names, or a location, or surveillance footage. It is a single audio file, forty-seven seconds long, recorded in what sounds like an underground room. For the first thirty seconds it is just silence and ambient noise. Then a voice young, female, terrified says six words. We do not find out exactly what those six words are. But we see Jessica’s reaction. And that reaction tells us everything we need to know about how serious this has just become.

Into Hell’s Kitchen The Investigation Turns Dangerous

The back half of Alias Red Band Issue 2 (2026) shifts the story from detective procedural into something that feels genuinely dangerous and deeply personal. Jessica follows the audio file’s trail into a part of Hell’s Kitchen she knows well too well. The neighbourhood where she grew up. The streets she used to protect before she stopped being a hero. As she digs deeper into who took Mara and why, she starts finding evidence that this case is not just about one missing girl. There are other names. Other files. Other disappearances that were never reported, never investigated, never noticed by anyone until now.

Jessica breaks into a storage unit connected to one of the organisation’s known shell companies. Inside she finds a filing system dozens of folders, each one a different name, a different face, a different missing person case. All women. All young. All connected by a single symbol stamped on the back of each folder a symbol Jessica has seen exactly once before, in a place she has spent years trying to forget.

The Symbol Jessica’s Past Collides With the Present

This is the moment where Alias Red Band Issue 2 (2026) truly reveals its hand. The symbol Jessica finds is not random. It connects this case directly to something in her own history a chapter the series has been deliberately keeping in shadow. We get our first real flashback in this issue: just two pages, fragmented and non-linear, showing a younger Jessica in a room she clearly never wanted to return to. We do not get full context yet. But the emotional weight of those two pages is enormous, and they reframe everything that has happened in the series so far in a deeply unsettling new light.

It builds dread with precision, deepens its central mystery with every scene, and uses Jessica Jones’ damaged, brilliant, unstoppable personality to pull the reader forward through every dark corner of the story. The Creel scene, the USB audio reveal, the storage unit discovery, and that devastating final panel all combine to make this one of the most gripping second issues Marvel has published in years.
